The Neno is District Council has a new contingency plan which is meant to among other things mitigate the impacts of climate change in the district.
This follows a rigorous engagement and partnership between the council and Beyond Our Hearts Foundation BOHF through funding from Save the Children under localization Project.
Speaking at the end of a recent interface, Rosemary Nawasha District Commissioner for Neno described the plan as worthwhile in the district’s efforts to ensure safety of people during difficult times.
She said among other things, the plan is bound to be successful given the its nature which advances matters of inclusiveness.
In his remarks Charles Lomoni,, Director of Planning and Development, commended the level of commitment of the team during the entire process and also applauded Save the Children for timely support throughout the process of developing the contingency plan.
Meanwhile, Russell Msiska, Executive Director for BOHF applauded the council for its commitment in implementation of the ideas in the plan.
The development of the plan is in line with the priorities of Save the Children’s Localization drive which aims at enhancing the local governance and institutional capacities for effective and inclusive implementation of Disaster risk management and climate adaptation initiatives.
