A collaborative awareness campaign by Beyond Our Hearts Foundation (BOHF) and Neno District Council has reached over 10,000 people across more than 50 villages in Neno District, preparing them for the risks of tropical cyclone Jude. This impactful initiative, part of the Localization Project, combines radio broadcasts with mobile roadshows to ensure widespread community reach.
Pemphero Nkhata, BOHF’s Programs Manager, highlighted the importance of their blended approach. “The combination of mediated and physical outreach ensures we reach even those without access to media like radio, this proactive effort not only educates residents but also builds resilience by minimizing potential losses and ensuring quicker recovery post-cyclone” she explained.
Neno District Council’s Disaster Officer, Mr. Brighton Mphinga, praised this partnership, citing it will go a long way in safeguarding lives and property and ensuring long-term resilience in the district.
This is not the first time BOHF has stepped in with preparatory early warning mass campaigns in Neno District, Our consistent efforts over the years have proven to be effective in empowering communities with preparedness.
